The Good Tree Campaign builds on the success of our previous tree-planting campaign: Planting in the Blessed Lands. That initiative saw 649 people sponsor the planting of 1530 lemon trees in Tarim, 388 olive trees in Jerusalem, and 129 date palm trees in the blessed land of Madinah.
This time, we aim to surpass our previous success and raise £50,000 by planting trees once again in Yemen, Madinah and Palestine (if possible). Trees are mentioned more than twenty times in the Qu’ran, and we know that they are blessed creations of Allah - providing shelter, shade and sustenance not only for human beings but for birds, insects, small mammals and more. In this era of rapid and dangerous climate change the importance of planting trees is more urgent than ever, with trees helping reduce soil erosion and improving air quality.
For us as Muslims, every tree planted is a sadaqa jariyah (a continuous act of charity) whose rewards will benefit generations to come, even once we are gone. Details on how to join this initiative will be shared in the coming months.
