The expansion and refurbishment of the Rawḍah Mosque is the first stage of the vision for Muṣṭafā Mount. The Mosque is located at the Grade II listed Emm Lane building, found at the southern end of the estate. The Mosque will house:
• Main Men’s Prayer Hall
• Ladies’ Prayer Gallery
• Auditorium
• Scholars Quarters and Offices
• Paradise Garden
• Scholars Garden
• Ablution, Toilets and Hammām
This involves the further extension of the Mosque so as to further accommodate the greater number of worshippers, especially on high days and holidays. It will also house the marketplace and a male and female fitness centre alongside other additional social facilities. This Greater Mosque will encompass the current Airedale and
Yvette Jacobson buildings.
The remainder of the buildings on the estate will eventually dictate the need for them to be replaced with more befitting buildings that are architecturally consistent with the three Grade II listed buildings, especially the Mosque, Emm Lane building. It is envisaged that these new builds will house the Living Quarter, the Hospitality Quarter, and the Enterprise Quarter of the site. A contemporary and alternative health centre will also be located there.
With the exception of the Mosque at Emm Lane, the Interim Plan addresses the issue of how the remaining ten buildings and the gardens and grounds will be used in accordance with the Trust’s vision for the site. The Plan will also include the renovation of Felicity House in Liverpool.
There are 14 projects that constitute this plan. They are:
1. Cartwright Business and Health Centre
2. Heaton Mount Weddings and Conference Facility
3. Primary School and Nursery
4. Hotel
5. Hostel
6. Coach House
