On the Nisf Sha’ban, 1446 (February 2025), the Qāf Initiative was launched. Qaf is the undertaking to produce a handwritten copy of the Mushaf, in the Hafs recitation, and in the award-winning penmanship of master calligrapher Sidi Mothanna al-Obaidi.
This historically and spiritually significant commission was further enriched by offering individuals the opportunity to “sponsor” an ayah (verse), or surah (chapter) of the Quran - fostering a deep sense of communal ownership and investment in this Mushaf. Given that it will be printed and read by countless others in the years to come, the community responded swiftly, keen to earn reward and partake in sadaqa jariyah (ongoing charity).
Sponsorship by individuals and teams has raised £800k with a further £200k in pledges. As a result, Greensville now aim to raise funds to start the second Mushaf in the Nāfi recitation, transmitted by Qālūn & Warsh.
